Sunnyside 55, Flowing Wells 0

Sunnyside running back Jovan Stevenson was too much for the Flowing Wells defense during the first half of the Blue Devils' victory Friday night. Stevenson carried the ball six times and finished with an astounding 210 yards. To make matters worse for the host Caballeros, those six carries came in the first half as Stevenson didn't line up in the backfield after the half.

The Blue Devils (6-2, 3-0 5A Southern Region) jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead against Flowing Wells (1-7, 1-2) on Stevenson's three scores and a 49-yard TD run by Alex Leon. Patrick Medina hauled in a Sammy Olivas 2-yard TD toss to put the game out of reach.

Manny Aguilar capped a 57-second Blue Devils' drive with a 7-yard TD run on their first possession of the third. The score put Sunnyside ahead 42-0. Aguilar scored again on a 62-yard TD run during the Blue Devils' next possession. Marques Laverty added a 9-yard TD run to complete the scoring.

Highlight reel: Stevenson scored on runs of 70, 42 and 77 yards in the first half.

Player of the game: Stevenson's six carries for 210 yards in only two quarters overwhelmed the Flowing Wells defense.
