On its homecoming, Sunnyside came out of the locker room with a bang, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. The Blue Devils first trip into the end zone came off of a 55-yard pass from Jaime Valdez to Alex Leon. The pair made another connection for 19 yards six minutes later.

Tailback Manny Aguilar impressed the crowd and capped the first-quarter extravaganza with a 33-yard TD run.

Highlight reel: The Badgers fumbled the ball with 2:37 left in the second quarter, and seven seconds later Aguilar ran 14 yards for a score to put Sunnyside up 28-0 at the half.

Player of the game: Manny Aguilar, RB/DB/ SS: The backup tailback had 26 rushes for 212 yards and two TDs.

By the numbers: 79. The number of offensive yards gained by Tucson. Sunnyside had 461.

He said it: "We played good overall and Manny (Aguilar) did great tonight. Our goal, which we have been working on since last November, is to get back to the state championship — we work towards that week after week." — Sunnyside coach Richard Sanchez
